“John did a fantastic job on my website. He was engaging and informative when working with me to redesign the site.
He took my vision and brought it to life. As a photographer having a website that displays your work well, is the number one thing.
John made sure to do that as well as making sure it was easy to navigate. I would recommend John to anyone needing new or redesign of their website.”
My Life Changed Overnight
About 12 years ago I became disabled when a hip replacement became infected and they had to cut off 4 inches of my femur bone. I had to use a walker to get around.
I could no longer photograph like I once did so I decided to go back to school and study for a graphic arts degree at Scottsdale Community College.
Even before I experienced medical issues, I was always intrigued by graphic arts. I always thought it had a lot in common with photography. I learned Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign (Adobe) while in school, but I also took a creative writing class as well as how to design web pages.
My self portrait using only keyboard strokes in one of my graphic arts classes.
They taught us how design websites using only code, using something called Dreamweaver (also by Adobe). That was fun but not really for me because I am not a coder.
I discovered WordPress and fell in love with it.
I could still be a graphic designer at heart, and still design cutting edge websites using my skills in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, but I also added video using Adobe Premiere Pro.
Along the way I have become very good at digital marketing as well as Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
Website Design and Hosting
…I decided to not only design websites, like I have been doing all along, but to host those same websites for businesses and nonprofits.
It was always confusing trying to recommend to people to buy a domain name at one place, and then have them buy hosting for there new WordPress website at another.
Buying hosting could be a bit pricey if people used a premium hosting company that I would recommend, and not a lower level hosting company like Godaddy, Bluehost, HostGator and others.
Low level hosting companies that have websites built on them, open and run very slow, and are very frustrating for a web designer to work on as well as a potential customer that is trying to see what you have to offer.
I host all the websites for myself and my customers on a premium hosting service that has a lot resources built in, so their website run and open fast all the time. It is a bit expensive but it has taken another major frustration out of my life, and my customers.
With the advent of the pandemic…
…many businesses went belly up, but a interesting thing also happened.
A large group of unemployed workers decided to start their own business, something that they had been thinking about for a long time, and now the virus and staying at home has given them the opportunity.
To eliminate all the confusion of starting peoples digital storefront, I decided to offer web design, hosting, graphic arts, logo design and digital as well printed material design, all in one place and for a very reasonable price.
I also wanted to make it affordable for any new business or nonprofit to get off the ground.
