Rich Snippets for Ranking Higher on Search Engines

Looking good and ranking higher?

What’s not to like?

When it comes to having your website or blog show up on a search engine like Google, Bing, and Yahoo, SEO is king, but the queen is something called Rich Snippets, Schema, and Micro Data.

Going hand-in-hand, the two work in tandem that will give your website and blog much more visibility and rank a bit higher in organic searches.

What is a Rich Snippet or Schema?

It is a few lines of extra text or graphics that will show up in search results called structured data.

Search engines work hard to understand a page’s content, so structured data is a standardized format for providing information about that page and classifying the page content using microdata.

This organic search engine data will show your website much better visually with an image and other tools and higher in the ranking overall.

Google loves rich snippets – and so do users – especially on the search results for recipes, products, and services.

Rich snippets provide star ratings, recipe markup, and much more.

They draw the eyes of searchers and, as a result, typically have higher click-through rates.

You can add rich snippets manually to individual pages and blogs, but because I design websites on WordPress, they have a plugin that helps me do this much faster, especially when landing pages.

I use the free plugin that you can download here called All-in-one Schema

If I am making landing pages for specific cities, I will make a Word doc. with the relevant answers and copy and paste them into the All-in-one questions to make the process much faster.

There are other paid and free schema plugins you can use by going here: WordPress Schema Plugins

In Conclusion

Adding Micro Data or Rich Snippets is a great way to be recognized and ranked and improve your click-through on search engines.

You can find a schema type for any business that is best for you and use it manually or with a WordPress plugin.

***One last thing you need to do, make sure your website is set up in Google Search Console as well as Bing, and Yahoo Webmaster Tools

These two tools will help your website be found on search engines and crawled much faster when adding new pages, blogs and making changes to existing content, such as adding rich snippets, text, and images.
